COMPLAINTS
Parents MUST forward their complaints directly to their coach, NOT the CGSL.
Please note that the CGSL does not assign, discipline or assess referees. We have no jurisdiction to ban any referee from refereeing any game.
Complaints about Game Officials (Referees)
Coaches are to submit complaints via email to cgsl@sympatico.ca. These complaints must include game number, date, age, division, location and the name of the clubs playing. Please include the name and/or OSA number of the referee in question. Please use only facts in your email with specific examples. The CGSL will then forward these complaints onto the District Referee Coordinator who will review the complaint and decide if reassessing is necessary. Complaints about referees will not void any discipline handed out at a game (ie yellow/red cards, team officials removed from the game). All referee decisions are final. Game outcomes will not be reassessed based on complaints. Complaints are to help better the refereeing.
Complaints about Team Officials and Opposing Team Player/Parent Behaviour
Coaches are to submit complaints via email to cgsl@sympatico.ca. These complaints must include game number, date, age, division, location and the name of the clubs playing. Please use only facts in your email with specific examples. There are 2 options when submitting these types of complaints:
1) You would like the team and/or club brought to discipline on formal charges. In this case the author of the complaint must be present at the discipline hearing.
2) You would like the CGSL to forward the complaint onto the club for the club to review.
Please clearly indicate in your email if you would like to attend a discipline hearing to support your complaint.
If parents have any further questions, please direct them to your coach. If any coaches have questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
